Between Whitecourt and Grande Prairie, an area labeled as “Moose Alley,” I saw something by the road: Dog? Coyote? Never saw a coyote this size. Wolf! Standing in the sunshine on the mowed area between road and forest.
Later, entering museum in Dawson Creek, the first animal displayed was a wolf–same size, somewhat golden tones in the grey-brown coat. Yes, they do come down out of the hills to the roadside and near human habitation.
